What is your window for shipping tubers?
We ship tubers out from the day the tuber shop opens (beginning of February) until May 31st of each year.
When I place an order for tubers, how many am I getting?
Each tuber purchased is exactly one tuber. I divide all my dahlia clumps into individual tubers and label them with marker before storing them away for the winter.
When should I have my tuber(s) shipped to me? And what should I do once they arrive?
Well, that depends entirely on what you want to do, and what time of year it is! Personally, I start almost all of my tubers indoors under grow lights 8-10 weeks before my last frost date. I put them in little pots with basic potting soil, lightly watered regularly. One, because I like to give the plants a head start on the growing season, and two, because I have really heavy clay soil where the mother tubers are subject to rot, regardless of how much I amend the soil!
If you don't have the space, time, equipment - whatever it is - and you just want to plant them in the ground, you definitely can! Just make your last frost date has passed and soil temperatures are on the rise. When I ship you your tubers, I include a growing tips packet that goes over all the basics of sowing tubers directly into the soil.
My tuber is really small! How is a massive dahlia plant supposed to grow out of that?
Tuber size has zero correlation to the size of the plant, that I can assure you! In fact, smaller tubers are usually much more vigorous in initial growth because they do not have the stored energy a large tuber does. A small tuber will eye up and send out roots quickly unlike a massive tuber that will take sometimes upwards of a month to sprout!
My tuber is a little prune-y - are you sure it's viable?
Yes! While the vast majority of the tubers I ship out are plump and firm, there are a few varieties that do not keep as well in storage, and tend to dry slightly. Rest assured your tuber is still viable! Just maybe not as pretty as others lol.
It's been a few weeks and my tubers still haven't sprouted. Can I get a replacement?
Patience! Some tubers/varieties take a long time to sprout. I have had some tubers take almost 2 months to sprout! If your tuber hasn't sprouted in a month, and is still firm/not rotted, contact me. We can discuss the situation and assess whether or not it's worth sending out another tuber yet. I make sure all tubers have viable eyes when I ship them out to you.
What is your refund policy?
You can cancel your order at any time until your tubers have shipped and a refund will be issued. Once shipped, refunds are only issued in the case that I do not have a tuber to replace the one you ordered. Please refer to Terms & Conditions for a more thorough explanation about what constitutes a replacement/refund.
Can I amend my order once placed?
Yes! I am here to work with you. If your tubers haven't shipped yet, you can contact me via email and we can change your order. You can add more tubers, change your delivery date, fix a typo in your address, etc. Just let me know what you want to do! When you email me, just be sure to tell me your order # .
I have more questions!!
Again - email me! I am happy to help with whatever questions you have.
